The 1st EuroFlow approach to MDS_AML diagnostic immunophenotyping and monitoring course
We look forward to meeting you at the 1st EuroFlow approach to MDS_AML diagnostic immunophenotyping and monitoring course that will take place from 11-15 January 2027, in Salamanca, Spain.
The EuroFlow approach to MDS_AML diagnostic immunophenotyping and monitoring course is designed for clinical flow cytometrists, laboratory hematologists, and biomedical laboratory professionals seeking to reinforce and further refine their expertise in the application of flow cytometry to the diagnosis and follow-up of myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
The course provides an in-depth understanding of the EuroFlow MDS_AML diagnostic approach and antibody panel, with a particular focus on the assessment of bone marrow hematopoiesis and the identification of abnormal immunophenotypic patterns. Participants will learn how to characterize hematopoietic progenitor and precursor cells (HPC) and the maturation of the different hematopoietic cell lineages and recognize deviations from normal maturation patterns that may support the diagnosis of MDS and AML.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the immunophenotypic characterization of genetically defined AML subtypes, enabling participants to understand the relationship between genetic alterations and their associated flow cytometric phenotypes.
Finally, the course will introduce the principles and practical application of flow cytometry for disease monitoring and follow-up of myeloid neoplasms, including the interpretation of immunophenotypic changes over time.
By combining focused theoretical concepts with hands-on analysis of clinical cases, the course places a strong emphasis on practical learning. Participants will work with flow cytometric data-files, performing their own analyses and interpretation of immunophenotypic patterns, identifying relevant abnormalities, and integrating their findings to reach independent diagnostic conclusions. Through guided case-based exercises and discussion, participants will develop the practical skills and confidence required to apply standardized flow cytometry approaches to the clinical diagnosis, classification, and monitoring of MDS and AML.
